Running and Nordic walking

Between Mount Omesberg and Zug, you’ll find 54 kilometres of running and walking trails, created specifically for the Running & Walking Trails Lech-Zürs programme – all clearly marked and graded across three difficulty levels. Whether you set out before breakfast or as an afternoon wind-down, the routes from the Haus Braunarl lead across gentle meadows, along the Lechbach stream, and up to panoramic viewpoints. A simple two-sign system shows distance and direction, making it easy to plan your run – ideal for casual joggers and serious athletes alike.

Tip: For more intensive training, join a running camp with Sabine Reiner – for nature, technique, and motivation.

Fishing

Crystal-clear waters, mountain stillness, trout, char, and grayling – that’s all you need for a perfect day by the water around Lech. Here are your options:

  • Lake Spullersee (1,810m): easily accessible by local bus from Zug, day ticket from €41.00
  • Lake Formarinsee: starting point of the Lechweg trail and voted Austria’s most beautiful location in 2015
  • Lake Zürser: the highest fishable lake around Lech-Zürs, positioned on the second stage of the Green Ring
  • Lech stream: 19 km of fly-fishing grounds with crystal-clear pools and gravel banks
  • Zug fishing pond: ideal for beginners; your catch is freshly prepared for you in the Fischerstüble

Fishing permits and local tips are available from the Haus Braunarl.

Forest swimming pool

Nestled among trees and boulders, the Lech forest swimming pool offers summer refreshment with style:

  • 25-metre sports pool
  • Aquafit pool with bubble loungers
  • Children’s and baby pool
  • Slide and large sunbathing lawn with mountain views

And it’s just a few minutes’ walk from the Haus Braunarl – perfect to wind down after a hike or spend a laid-back family afternoon in the sun.

With a car or motorbike, the world is your oyster.

If you enjoy life on two or four wheels, you’ll find spectacular routes to explore around Lech. From the Flexen Pass to the Hochtannberg Pass to the Furkajoch Pass, routes with curves, hairpin bends, and viewpoints snake through three countries: Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The Alpine passes are typically accessible from late May to late October and easy to navigate by GPS. Lech makes an ideal base for tours through the Bregenzerwald region, into the Allgäu, or down to Lake Constance – perfect for combining your drive with a city visit, boat trip, or visit to a cultural monument or open-air festival.

Tip: Every July, enthusiasts gather for the Arlberg Classic Car Rally to watch over 100 vintage beauties roll through the mountains – style, class, and pure passion guaranteed.
